Interesting start to the day, with windows rattling from an explosive eruption at Shinmoedake, which ended up looking like Mordor by the end of the day:

Unfortunately, the rest of the day’s photos were a bit less sensational. Though, I did get to witness the volcanic static lightning phenomenon at Sakurajima last night. Something ominous about the eruptions kept me from hanging around too long to get a good shot… I’ll man up and get something good this week.
