I was asked to come along to a funeral for one of Miyuki’s relatives, whom I had never met. I expected it to be a solemn, tense affair, but little did I know that after the formalities, these events turn into all night parties in remembrance. I took a long walk during the first part, as I was horribly under-dressed for the occasion (shorts and a t-shirts where all I had packed). Though, later that evening they dragged me inside for dinner and drinks, and I ended up being brought around to just about every table and bombarded with tons of questions. I guess I helped to break the somber mood, and in turn it helped me feel included in what otherwise would be a very private affair.
