Tossed and turned a lot last night. While in the process of waking up, I propped both elbows into the futon underneath me and pushed up. I felt a really strong “pop” just above my shoulder blades and immediately realized it wasn’t the normal snap-crackle-pop my body makes getting up in the morning. When stretching, the vertebra below that area will pop occasionally, but this is the first time something so high up has done anything like that. It’s also the first time I’ve ever had neck pain of this kind. My range of motion became super limited and it became difficult to even lift my head off the pillow…
Lots of rolling around wincing. Measured steps to right myself. Walked around a bit. Lied back down (mistake). Again, trouble getting back up. Took a hot shower. Did some long stretches and simple yoga poses and things loosened up a bit.
Fast forward to the evening. Walked around a bit during the day and soaked in hot water for about 30 minutes this evening. Still stiff, but a huge difference from this morning. Limiting computer time, so I’ll sign off now. Especially since Miyuki and I are up early for Taiwan tomorrow. We’ll be there through this Friday. If you need me, send an e-mail.
